20x200: Art to Benefit Japan

Though a deviation from the wearable, I've been meaning to post about the great website 20x200, which offers limited editions of prints by up-and-coming and more established artists at affordable prices ($20, $50, $200, or $2,000, depending on the size of the print and how many editions are made). I like the idea of buying prints as gifts while also supporting working artists. This week there will be two editions where net proceeds go to disaster relief in Japan (one shown above). Joining their email list will get you weekly email updates about print releases, as some sell out fast.

Creatures of Comfort Blowout Sale

Today and tomorrow 12-7, 435 Broome Street, between Crosby and Broadway. Up to 90% off a lot of great brands stocked by Creatures of Comfort (MM6, Acne, Rachel Comey, A.P.C.) and other designers (Hansel from Basel, Dieppa Restrepo, etc.). Jealous.

Deals at TENOVERSIX

Refinery29, the fashion blog/boutique, has started a new deals site, Reserve, in the vein of Groupon or LivingSocial. Each week it offers a credit, coupon or some kind of deal to the stores and brands it supports. This past week's was a $200 credit for $100 from TENOVERSIX, the L.A. boutique that specializes in accessories and has it's own line of awesome shoes. That would make the gold peep-toe pumps I've been coveting for ages $130 rather than $230. I also like this wood and plastic necklace from MM6 by Martin Margiela for $178 ($100 including another $22 worth of purchases) and these amazing tan suede booties for $160 (were $260). Each deal lasts about 6 days; this one has 3 days left. FYI the shoes tend to run a bit small.

A.P.C. Plaid

Calling all xs's. Nearly new A.P.C. button-down shirt on eBay for $25 with buy it now (or starting price $15, with zero bids, $10 shipping and 5+ days left). Retailed for $158. The eBay Picture is hard to make out, but I'm pretty sure it's the shirt above.

Richard Chai

Sale in New York today, from 12-6 at 310 Broadway. Those of us not able to take advantage of wares from 70%-90% off will have to settle for this blue size 4 nwot shirtdress on eBay at $80 with no bids and a bit more than a day left (or $100 with buy it now), or this beautiful size 6 black flowered silk dress shown above, posted at collective resale blog Laws of General Economy for $175 or best offer. I don't like flowers but I like this dress.

Scandinavian Stripes

On eBay. From above, Finnish designer IVANAhelsinki's black and copper striped sweater dress at $149 with zero bids and two days left (originally 219 euros); Danish designer Henrik Vibskov's wool hat for $110 or best offer; and, the inspiration for it all, xs (though undoubtedly runs big) vintage 1970s cotton black and white striped maxi dress from iconic Finnish design house Marimekko -- currently at $20 with 1 bid and 1 day left. Easily hemmed for a shorter look.

Sale in Mociun

Up to 75% off at awesome RISD-trained and Brooklyn-based Mociun (pronounced "motion") online. I love this orange and gray spandex mini-dress for $46.25 (was $185, also comes in black and white); and have a longstanding obsession with this beautifully patterned silk "Waterline Dress" for $179.20 (was $448). There's lots more on the Mociun site, including nice t-shirts, men's ties, and even journals on sale.

Intarsia Sweaters

Are a consistent source of weakness for me. This YMC sweater is $29 right now on Gilt (was $176). I'd probably live in this Barlow cardigan, available at Tobi for $148 (from $297). And I can't help but get a kick out of this vintage Betsey Johnson pterodactyl sweater on eBay, currently at $25 with 3 days left.
